Humidification
The use of heat and humidification plays a key role in patient comfort during the delivery of respiratory support. Clinical Studies show that cold, dry medical gas can have a negative impact through heat and water loss resulting in thicker mucus, damaged cilia or cells, mucus plugging, atelectasis, and decreased compliance. These clinical implications can negatively impact patient comfort which can have a significant impact on the success of therapy. The addition of heat and humidification during NIV can effectively prevent these side effects.
The effective use of humidification during Non-Invasive Ventilation can be a balancing act. How do you deliver the right amount of humidity to maximize clinical outcomes without creating additional challenges? Teleflex Medical offers the ConchaTherm® Neptune®, a heated humidifier that has the flexibility to deliver the perfect balance. Featuring an adjustable airway temp and gradient control, you can customize the therapy to enhance comfort while minimizing circuit and interface condensation.
Working in conjunction with a heated-wire breathing circuit, the ConchaTherm Neptune allows for adjustment of the temperature gradient. This gradient allows for adjustment of the humidity levels delivered, allowing for precise control of both humidity and condensation in the circuit and patient interface. This control, along with the adjustable patient airway temperature, allows the caregiver to minimize rainout in the breathing circuit and the patients interface.
